The Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP) has launched the Fellowship programme that will send journalists to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Doha (COP18) in late 2012. The Fellowships are open predominantly to journalists from developing countries, but journalists from the US and Russia are also welcome to apply.

This project aims to engage and train journalists to improve their understanding and coverage of the European Union’s Common Fisheries Policy, related issues and reforms which will stimulate a more informed public debate. Two 3-day conferences in France and Germany bring together local media and experts ranging from environmental journalism specialists, lobby groups, research institutes to fish producers.

 
The Earth Journalism Network has established a stipend programme that invites European journalists to apply for financial support to cover the cost of investigating, producing and disseminating a journalistic story on European fisheries to be published by mid-September, 2012.

Over the last 6 years, 1500 journalists from dozens of countries have been trained and have produced over 2000 stories during the project's activities. The projects participants build their capacity through training workshops, support for roduction and distribution, dispersing small grants and fellowships, research, and the development of curricula and briefing materials in order to improve their coverage of environmental issues and challenges.

 
Internews Kazakhstan’s new project is supporting media covering the imminent parliamentary elections on the 15th of January 2012. The situation in-country is very challenging with difficulties to access information, little public knowledge of the political process and some partisan editorial policies.
 
Early elections planned for Kazakhstan in January, coupled with progress towards fully multi-party polls has created the urgent need for media training and capacity building. In mid December 2011, Internews launched activities to reinforce the media capacity during the electoral and post-electoral periods.
 
A new report published by Infoasaid captures practical case studies and best practice in communications with affected communities during the 2010 responses in Haiti.
