Element - new series is an independent production developed by non –profit initiative The Element Partnership, in co-operation with leading media partners TVE (Television Trust for the Environment), Internews Europe and the One World Broadcasting Trust.
The Monica Element, one of six video spots has been selected from over two hundred entries to be screened at this year’s Stories from the Field, the third annual United Nations documentary film festival.
The theme of the festival is the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Each year, Stories from the Field sheds a spotlight on the world beyond the borders, revealing the day to day reality of millions in the developing world. The films that are screened during the two-day event come from the United Nations’ offices and agencies and from the general public.
The Monica Element episode reflects two of the eight Millennium Development Goals: Reduce Child Mortality and Improve Maternal Health. The Monica is the story from Peru. Monica’s changing the face of sexual and racial identity.
The Element Partnership, in co-operation with leading media partners TVE (Television Trust for the Environment), Internews Europe and the One World Broadcasting Trust. The Element website started running from 12 March 2007.
