series of seminars for Russia’s media professionals...
In terms of the project Regional Media Support Programme in Russia High Economics School is organising a series of seminars providing training to Russian journalists to raise professional standards of journalism.

30 November, Moscow : Conference "Self-regulatory in the media. Problems and the solution". 36 media professionals represented Moscow and regional self-regulations bodies in the media. Some came from six pilot regions of the project: Krasnoyarsky Krai, Rostov region, Hanti-Mansijsk region, North-West region (St. Petersburg, Murmansk, Velikiy Novgorod), Voronezh region and Tatarstan.
Three round tables were hold during the conference so the representatives of all six pilot regions could express their opinion. Participants of the conference realised that especially the regions need self-regulatory in the media. But there are minimum two obstacles:

The problem of the interference of the state in the self-regulation was discussed also at the round table. The participants opinions were divided: some consider that in the work of the self-regulation organisations it is necessary to take into consideration the current political situation and actively to collaborate with the public bodies, others categorically denied even the possibility of interaction with the state bodies in a question of self-regulation.
There are no self-regulation organisations in Tatarstan and Hanti-Mansijsk region, two of six regions of the program, (in view of the local conditions of media development).
25-26 November, Rostov-on-Don : Seminar "In the city N".
33 Russian journalists from radio and TV stations, written and online press and press departments took part in two day seminar. This seminar was hold as a role game and helped to understand the role of journalist. Participants learnt to use existing information in the real situation, to analyse stereotypes and behavior in the crisis situations. Interactive discussion "Colleauges, enemies or competitors?" clarified problem understaning by both sides. The teambuilding seminar covered the collaboration between media and press services.
