CDAC holds a Lunchtime Presentation bringing together renowned field experts Cecilia Ljungman (CDAC), Jacobo Quintanilla (Internews Europe), Anita Shah and  Airlie Taylor (Infoasaid), Sean Lowrie (Consortium for British Humanitarian Agencies), and Rachel Houghton (CDAC Global Coordinator).

This panel discussion will allow for a sharing of best practices such as two-way communication between the humanitarian community and the affected population, information needs assessments and the development of tools and systems internal to the humanitarian community around emergency preparedness and response.

Speakers

  • Cecilia Ljungman, Independent Consultant and author of a forthcoming learning review commissioned by the CDAC Network to assess the role and effectiveness of the CDAC initiative in Haiti
  • Jacobo Quintanilla, Director of Humanitarian Media at Internews which has recently undertaken a number of information needs assessments toward better understanding the needs of affected communities, on the premis that this will improve the quality and effectiveness of aid
  • Anita Shah, head, infoasaid & Airlie Taylor, Communications Officer with the International Emergencies and Conflict Team at ActionAid. Infoasaid and ActionAid are working in partnership  to institutionalise communications with disaster affected communities into ActionAid’s organisational thinking and processes toward delivering more effective aid
  • Discussant: Sean Lowrie, Director, Consortium for British Humanitarian Agencies (CBHA)
