Internews Europe is a non-profit non-governmental organisation registered under French Law 1901 (Association de loi 1901) in Paris, France, in September 1995. The statutes established at its creation describe the purpose, means of action and general structure of our organisation. In 2010, Internews Europe had six Board members and 31 General Assembly members.
What does it mean to be a member of Internews Europe?
Being a member offers the opportunity to become more involved with some of Internews Europe's development work and projects. A member receives updated information about Internews Europe activities; can make suggestions to management, the General Assembly or the Board; and take part in the general meeting with voting rights, including selection of the Board. A member may also benefit from Internews Europe contacts in Europe or in the field.
The General Assembly of Members meets physically once a year to approve management and elect the board. Other meetings take place throughout the year as needed.
Board Members are consulted and make important decisions for all key financial, programmatic and development issues. They elect the officers of the organisation.
The Board is elected by the General Assembly from among its members and meets at least twice a year. The Board elects the officers.
Officers: President, General Secretary and Treasurer. They are legally responsible for the management of the organisation as a whole.
Individual Member: Any physical person whose membership is approved by the Board.
